————————————————-

It’s been a month since you arrived in this world, and after working tirelessly, you finally feel you’ve got something to give Game Master.

————————————————-

You knock on Game Master’s door.

Game Master: Come in.

You: I’m done. Here’s what I have to give you in terms of Witly in EnginWorld and EnginEE.

Game Master: Let’s see~

The Report:

While Witly was observed by the healers in EnginWorld and found to have also contaminated EnginEE, the main focus in treating Witly and examining the impact of Witly cannot be done solely through the lens of Witly. The true impact of the disease lies in the loss of the protection of the integrity of all human souls in interpersonal relationships. EnginWorld for example, upholds Objectivity, Rationality, Hard Work for its values. This, in itself, does not have to be detrimental. It is a fruitful to desire to be as impartial as possible in certain situations, and having a strong work ethic is something worth admiring. However, whst does it mean to be objective and rational,  and what counts as hard work? Most, importantly who is defining these? Those who are hoarding the power. Why do they feel they must hoard that power? Well that’s a topic for another time. But, for the topic at hand, we know that at the very least those fighting to keep the power to bend even the realities of others to their own, cannot be of a calm mind and spirit themselves. They are experiencing a disconnection in their wholeness as a soul. They enforce and spread this disconnection to those who they infringe upon with their standards, regardless of whether or not the recipients see it as beneficial. And those who suffer the most oppression under the effects of this infringement are certainly not immune to reproducing the same violence upon others—hence how Witly can run its course in EnginEE. This severe disconnection, or rift, that occurs in the soul I will call “Raum.” The phenomenon is “unique to each body”, and because it occurs in relation must be healed in relation [1] [2].

Steps toward healing Raum in EnginWorld and EnginEE :

  1. For the Self-Aware: Spaces that use overt tools for reflection (e.g., gatherings of power-holders to question if their actions align with their intent).
  2. For the Deeply Afflicted: Covert tools for reflection (e.g., stories and narratives that place their actions in front of them using fictional characters, making it easier for them to see themselves from the outside).

An example of what #1 could look like is below (an agenda of an informal gathering aimed at discussing the impacts of Witly with tea and snacks):

Goals and Guidelines

  1. Float in our humanity … what does that even mean? I got you.  It really just means to be a human, but…cue more verbose explanation … Floating in our humanity means we just show up in our wholeness as a human (all emotions are welcomed— there is no need for pretense—say your truth ( also be prepared reactions to that), hold yourself and each other accountable, also let’s not assume evil intent (I doubt any of us here are here to sow seeds of evil.. but also let’s recognize the impact we have on each other.) No one here is infallible, we are fully capable of hurting others, but the gold is in how we repair harm with others. But effective repair of harm  requires authenticity.
  2. Leave with an understanding of how Witly is intertwined within EnginWorld and EnginEE culture.
  3. Leave with an understanding of how Witly has injured our sense of wholeness or pressed us to compromise our wholeness.

Here are some definitions of Witly and Raum to guide our discussion:

Witly: Condition marked by:

Illusion of Justice: Positioning the sleeves as “savior” that will guide tge others in the town back home to being a good citizen.

Worship of the Scroll: push towards requiring things to be written down in times in order to create and preserve their power

Tyranny of the Clock: A keen sense of urgency in which everything needs to be produced quickly and that more must be produced to be a meaningful citizen. Producing output does not take into consideration tge quality of output.

Rigidity in Thought: Adopt the mindset of putting things into binaries. They often miss the nuances in life, conveniently.

Snake of Paternalism: Hoarding of  power and wielding it in away where these without as much power are subject to their decisions.

Snare of Entitlement: While abusing the power and agency they have they threaten the agency others by expecting them to cater to their own comfort while abandoning their own.

Glorification of Individual Achievement:  A centering of the self without much respect to the value of community.

Raum: The state that accompanies Witly and the effects it has on citizens of EnginWorld and members of EnginEE community. A state of disconnection of the soul.

Discussion

Icebreaker: What three words describe who you would be in an ideal world?

Prompt 1

What aspects of Witly do we think we experience in EnginEE ? EnginWorld?

Prompt 2:

What are some ways we think we replicate the harms of Witly in EnginEE?

Prompt 3

In what ways do we feel Witly in both EnginWorld and EnginEE has encouraged us to distance ourselves from who we are/who we want to be?

Prompt 4

What would EnginWorld and EnginEE without Witly look like?

How are our bodies feeling after this discussion?

End of Report

Game Master: Hmm. I like this quite a bit. I know I said you could go home, but do you perchance want to stay to help implement—

You: Absolutely not. I would like to go home.

Game Master: (Chuckles) Figures. Fine, I’ll take you back.

The End
